Image Management
Images are the lifeblood of eCommerce stores. They allow you to present your products and services to the customer to full effect. They're used to aid the customer in making a decision as to whether or not to buy the product. Having a variety of images for each product with different angles, different options, colours, materials, in use, in storage, etc is the ideal. Stor allows you up to 15 images per product which is more than enough to show off even the largest items.
Image Manager Overview
Navigate to your Shop's "admin area", then to "Settings" > "Images".
From here you can access the "Image Manager".
For a limited number of image uploads ( up to 15) it's easier to use the Image Manager's 'Upload Files' option. Using the Upload File Option on the Image Manager Within the Image Manager click the "Upload File" button.
This will bring up a standard "File Search Box" so that you can select the relevant file(s) from your PC or Mac. Select the file(s) that you need and then click "Open". The images will then be uploaded to your shop.
Tips for Image Uploads Before uploading any images, spend some time changing the name of the images to match the product title or SKU. This will make it much easier to find them in the future if you need to. Try and stick to the same naming convention for future images e.g. images are always SKUs or Product Titles. Pass images through an image compressor such as https://tinypng.com/ or https://compressor.io/compress This reduces image loading time and makes uploads quicker.
Setup a sub-folder for image categories, for example, product images, category header images, banners, etc. Again, this makes it much easier to use and find relevant images in the future. Editing Images Using the Photo Editor. To access this, just head to the Product that you want to add images to. Click through to the "Images" Page under "Product Edit".
Click the "Image Manager" button.
Find and select the relevant image.
Click "Use Selected Image".
If needed, enter the "Photo Editor" using the "Pencil" icon.
Edit as necessary and then click the blue "Save" button.
Not All Images Are Created Equal. Product images are crucial and, for better or worse, they're not all that great. We've all seen product images that look like they've been taken in a rush or have weird or inconsistent backgrounds. Or others that don't reflect the quality of the products you're selling or producing. Remember that an image speaks 1000 words and for an eCommerce Shop it's crucial. So try to ensure that your images are:
- Clear
- Of uniform size
- Have a consistent background
- Representative - Use 'standard' items to show scale
- Take photos from different angles
- Show images of each variant.
Also, bear in mind these points:
- Try not to add too much (or any) text to images If possible.
- Think about matching products with complementary items, outfits or lifestyles e.g. show your surfboard in action or your necklace as part of an outfit.
- Make sure your ALT Tag is right
