Upselling is a sales technique where a seller induces the customer to purchase more expensive items, upgrades or other add-ons in an attempt to make a more profitable sale.
Adding Upsell Products
As with the Related Products option, you can add in Upsell Items to any relevant products. This is completed in the relevant Product's 'Edit' option then under 'Upsell Items'.
Simply click the "Add Upsell Product" button and select from the dropdown menu or search by title/SKU to add it to the list. These Upsell products will then be shown to the Customer when they are checking out under a header of "Recommended for this order".
What to Add
You can add complimentary products that would be beneficial to a customer for example:
- A helmet as an Upsell product when purchasing a bicycle or
- Gloves as an upsell when purchasing a hat or scarf.
A good upsell product should be of benefit to your customer as well as your bottom line!
